Rudy`s Seafood in San Antonio

Food is really good but there phone line is always busy can never get through on the phone to call in a order everything else is great but need a better way of taking calls for orders

This place is Awesome. The artwork is totally Amazing here. The food takes me back to my hometown on the East Coast

Since I was a young boy I've been going to Rudy's Seafood. The fish is always some of the best fresh tasting fish. The only thing that you need to learn and expect a Rudy's Seafood is usually the lines are long. However, that just let you know that family store upholds everything that it lives up to.

Will not be going back they have terrible customer service workers that don't care, take orders wrong then give you attitude. There food quality and amount given has gone down while there prices keep rising.

Looks good but wasn't as good as it was in 2011. Only Crab in the crab, was absent. Tasted more like dressing/ stuffing. The shrimps we're "chewy" and not " enjoyable" or tasty. The "wild rice" side was " flavorless". The tartar sauce was " mediocre". Don't waste your time or $30....not worth it...I should've ordered the Steak,(not from Rudy's).👎👎👎👎

Friendly staff, get your food fresh and hot. Large servings. We love coming here and eating their 🐟 and 🍤. Its the best in San Antonio!

AMAZING seafood here! So glad they are now accepting cards. It used to be a cash only place which I never understood. So happy about the change. We go here more often because of that. The batter is light and not too heavy. The prices are great and the menu is pretty large. Not the biggest place and it does get packed. Get there early!

The flavor was good but the food temperature was barely warm and oily. It didn't seem like it was freshly made. We were there an hour before closing so maybe it had been sitting under a heat lamp.

As always the food was great! Fish tacos were a tad different this time, a little dry, not sure what was missing..still tasty though.

Fresh, perfectly fried fish and shrimp. The portions are generous and the staff friendly. I didn't feel like I busted my wallet. We're going to make this place a regular stop.

We thought the fish was kind of bland but the shrimp were perfect. So we went right down the middle in our stars.

Large family fish plate ... waited an hour for our meal. The fish was limp and soggy. The family sized portion of rice is barely a pint if that and the fries were barely enough to split between 5 people. I guess the large family meal is for four people because our bread was 4 slices of bread... really?! All in all, as much as we are trying to shop local, for 35 bucks I'm taking my business elsewhere.

Been coming here for years best fish...Only complaint is that they are trimming down.. they use to over fill the plates, now they barely cover the plate.. Fish is good only reason we keep coming back..

OMG... they have ruined Fish and shrimp baskets for me everywhere... I only want Rudy's now... AMAZING FOOD... Shrimp is just amazing with the local tartar sauce. 5 star. Take out is what I did and couldn't stop eating on the drive home. Portions are huge. must visit.

Very good food. Too bad they don’t take orders over the phone. If they did they would make triple there money. All they do is pick up and hang up on you. That’s horrible service.

If your looking for a great hole in the wall fish place .... this is definitely not it...This fish was flavorless.... not even the breading had seasoning... very limited choices when it comes to fish...fries were mediocre and that’s being kind... I would not return here...

Go get dinner somewhere else. Went yesterday and was treated like cattle at a feed trough. Waited 20 minutes to place an order and 30 minutes to get it. Then told to stay outside and they will call you on the phone when your order is ready. Some off duty security guy standing outside to put the fear in ya I guess. Skip this place.. There are better options.

This place has been famous for awesome seafood since the 1960's the fried mushrooms are beyond Delicious.

I discovered this place by accident, picking up my vehicle from a tow yard. The 2 ladies running the front counter we're very pleasant and if you're looking for a clean Spurs/Cowboys friendly environment, this is definitely the spot to go too. The food was fresh and portions we're very generous.

Heck yea. 5 stars for Rudys. Everything on menu is good. place is remodeled. Tried a lot of restaurants for the best seafood. Rudy s is at the top of my list.

We ordered ghill and jumbo fish burger and 2 shrimps. The fish had 0 flavor whatsoever, the rice had such a horrible flavor.. The only thing that was good was the shrimp. We have eaten here prior a few time this is the 2nd time it's been bad. I would not return i was really disappointed. It took 8 calls to get thru phone just kept ringing $45 down the drain.

Best Seafood in the southside... once you go there and try their delicious seafood..you will be hooked for life...my family is always very satisfied with the service and food...employees are so down to earth..that they make you feel like family. You must go and try Rudy's Seafood.

Always delicious and enjoyable to eat good fish. Very satisfied.

The fish and shrimp r the best

I used to love coming here often. Recently, their food and customer service have become subpar. I understand with COVID many businesses are stressing out. I can easily overlook the rude customer service,. I'm not there to make friends haha but I am there for the food.. Their fish used to be flaky, tender, and contained the right amount of seasoning in their batter. Now it seems to be bland. The edges of the fish are hard and rubbery, making it difficult to cut with a fork. I used to enjoy purchasing either their combos or family meals; knowing I would be getting high quality and quantity of food for a great price. Sadly, that is not the case today. The plates have become smaller but the prices have increased drastically. The fish have become smaller, barely any fries (provided they aren't overcooked), and jumbo shrimp are really medium sized. For the amount I paid, it was not worth it.

Tell you what ...Where have these people been eating? Is what I'm wondering ... there are so many better fresher fish places out there do yourself favor and venture out past the southside....this fish is bland and tasted like watery fish,....

Always fresh never greasy greasy portions

Girlfriend enjoy fish tacos. Wish tortillas were warm up. Fried oysters were served warm, much better when there hot but good size.. french fries were served cold. Crab cake tasted awesome, but was serve cold...grrrrr...I will give the place another chance because G/F enjoy her food.

I love Rudy’s!! Been going there since I was a little girl. My parents took us every Friday for fish when booker worked there. This place never disappoints you.

After enjoying eating their many delicacies over the years, our visit to Rudys today was very very disappointing. The oysters and fish were tasteless and not as generous. The fries were soggy and the portion was not like before. The prices are not in keeping with the times. We won't be going back again.

Food was really good. Today being Friday during Lent I called the order in advance which I would definitely recommend. There was a long line when I got there for people ordering. They have security there which is reassuring. He was directing traffic, letting people know there were no parking spots. We'll definitely be going back. Only downside was they need more parking, but luckily I didn't have to wait long to get one.

We tried Rudy's for the first time and weren't disappointed. Friendly staff and the food was excellent. When I saw the menu the prices seemed high but after we got our meal it was well worth it. They serve you alot. Awesome fish and shrimp.

Great place...Great food the family order comes out hot n fresh and more than 9 pieces. The order comes with fries bread n rice. The staff is cool and the atmosphere is great.

Food it's great!! However, when trying to order ahead, now that only take out available. They Never answered the phone & unable to leave a message. Attempts more than 30 minutes.

I was craving oysters and they were delicious and refreshing !! Mmmm !! They have a huge menu !! They also have a Bar to choose whatever your heart 💓 desires !!

It's seafood. I go for the cheese burgers. Which is what I consider homemade style. And generous portions. You won't leave hungry but you will leave with half of whatever you ordered to go. The ladies at the counter are friendly and never forget or say no to extras like bread, lemons etc. Just be ready to wait a bit. Very popular joint. Because people come in after work. And order large family dinners to go. Don't be surprise if you run into some relatives or old school buddies you have not seen in a while! Lol

This was my first visit to Rudys. I'd heard people mention it time after time, and one day while passing by I decided to stop in and check it out.The prices are very reasonable for seafood, and after ordering the food came out to my table pretty quick. A steady flow of people were both dining in and arriving to pick up orders to go.I ordered the Elvas combo, 2 fish and 3 oyster plate, with fries, hush puppies, rice pilaf and coleslaw. Everything was great. The fish and oysters had great flavor and everything that came out was fresh out the kitchen.I will be returning here with friends to show them this hidden gem of the southside. The quality and price of the food here were much better than many of the seafood restaurants located around town.

First time going, they were in the middle of remodelling, but one of the cashier/attendant was super nice, very attentive. My rcpt says her name is Barbara S. What ever her name is keep up the good work.

When we visit from AZ, stopping here is a MUST! It might look different on the inside, but the food is still delicious. We love this place.

Love the Food and I love their survival during these pandemic times. They've got the process perfected.

Fish is always good. Getting a little bit pricey now. When I was there the ladies were frustrated and being short with the customers. But they were mad because the cooks were messing up the orders. Customers were complaining about their orders being messed up. I did order in advance and they still long over what they estimated. Hope this problem gets resolved.

It's the best fish lve tasted Mr.Rudy is an awsome man plus he makes sure his customers get what they want very nice people l will always keep going there!!!!👍👍👍💖🙋‍♀️

Hubby and I was happy to see that Rudy's was opened on a Sunday! If you're looking for some fresh made, hearty portions of fried fish and seafood, then Rudy's is your place!
